His match in 1998 with the Undertaker (hell in the cell) will go down in history, as Mick Foley (Mankind) took severe punishment for the good of the business. A true legend and a must for all wrestling fans.
Many peoples favorite wrestler and a huge icon of the business. His achievements are being rewarded this year as he is to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. The Million Dollar Man maintained everybody had a price. He bought off many superstars down through the years. Very popular in the sense that everybody loved to hate him.
Virgil was the bodyguard to The Million Dollar Man but after years of harassment and embarassment at the hands of DiBiase he snapped and ended up challenging Ted for his million dollar belt at Summerslam. Virgil then became a superstar himself with many followers but is always best when on Ted's side protecting him. He will be protecting Ted in the Glenroyal on November 13th and 14th.
The ultimate WWE Diva Lilian just stepped down from WWE last year. She was the sexy ring announcer on RAW. Lilian is one of the nicest people you'll meet. A very attractive woman indeed and her talents don't end there. She was a fantastic ring announcer and is now a professional singer. This is a huge bonus for Ireland as Lilian normally doesn't do these shows but as she loves Ireland so much she wants to come over to meet her fans who have supported her so well. Lilian is truly a class act.
The greatest intercontinental champion of all time. HTM held the belt for 65 weeks which is still by far the longest reign. Hated as the ultimate heel during his reign but like DiBiase it was more of a case that fans loved to hate him. Honky claimed he was cool, cocky and bad and he was just that. His fueds with Jake Roberts and Randy Savage will live long in the minds of wrestling fans. A huge draw and a must meet.
The beautiful Diva Candice Michelle is an icon for male and female wrestling fans of the World over. She is also known as the Go Daddy Girl where she advertises Godaddy.com. Candice is a former WWE womens Champion and a must see for Wrestlezone Ireland on 13th and 14th November.
What can you say about Brutus the Barber Beefcake. Brutus entered the WWE as a bad ass even winning the tag belt with Greg Valentine. His reign as a bad guy did change though and Brutus became a loveable character. He got his name when he assisted Roddy Piper in cutting the late great Adrian Adonis' hair off after Piper defeated Adonis. This became a trademark for Brutus thereafter bringing a sheers to the ring everytime and shaving heads any chance he got. The measure of Brutus Beefcake told when he had a near fatal accident which laid him up for over a year. Brutus openly admits he was lucky to be alive but it didn't stop him in the squared circle. He currently works with Brian Knobbs as one of the mentors on Hulk Hogans Celebrity Championship Wrestling. Anybody who wants a head shave on November 13th and 14th Brutus may just be the man. I am not kidding here either. Brutus will do it.
Tito Santana is another Hall of Famer and deservedly so. Two time intercontinental champion, two time tag team champion and also King of the Ring. Tito's career seemed to last forever and he was a huge fan favourite through from the 70's to the early 90's and believe you me even now he is hugely sought after. Tito (also known as "El Matador in later years") was involved in the classic tag team Strike force with Rick Martel who is also on the card for the Glenroyal convention.
The Genius (Lanny Poffo) was a very arrogant superstar who got under the skin of many with his personalised poems aimed and displeasing. In 1989 he wound up Hulk Hogan just before Wrestlemania 5 by sticking up for The Macho Man Randy Savage in a poem. Randy is actually Lanny's brother and this lead of course to the formation of the genius character. He then went on to Manage and team up with his best mate Mr Perfect. Come out and meet Lanny. His stories about his best mate Curt Hennig are really in depth as he decribes how he misses his pal everyday. He claims that "Curt, was a friend to everyone".
The Ultimate heal, Rick "The Model" Martel was the most arrogant superstar ever. When he departed Strike Force partner, Tito Santana, Martel went on a run of winding up everyone and anyone. Holding his can of arrogance Martel was the original ultimate opportunist as any chance he got to cheat and steel a win he would use it, quiet often spraying his arrogance in the eyes of his opponent.
The Hammer is a second generation superstar and is also another WWE Hall of Famer appearing at the Kildare town. His trade mark figure four leg lock made many tap out. The huge frame of the Hammer was on our TV screens for over 20 years and although he was mostly heal he was a brilliant character.
